From Severe Suffering to Safe Sanctuary—Ollie Needs Your Kindness

In a serene beachside car park, a ginger Tom named Ollie was found in a shocking state. Will a rescued cat be able to survive without a tongue?

The Heartbreaking Discovery

When we first met Ollie the ginger Tom, he was a terribly sick-looking stray battling severe infections and necrosis—a condition that had claimed most of his tongue. The sight of his injuries, including maggots in his mouth, was a grim reminder of the struggles faced by so many stray animals here in Taiwan.

A Will to Survive

Despite the odds, Ollie’s spirit of survival was evident. Rushed to a 24-hour vet in Taipei, he received urgent care, including a vital blood transfusion. The costs were significant, but thanks to the generosity of our kind cat-loving donors, Ollie began his journey to recovery. Our affiliate Taiwan charity, ACT for Animals, opened their doors to Ollie, allowing him to be cared for at The Cats’ Crade, their lovely four-storey home for rescued felines.

Securing Ollie’s Future at The Cats’ Cradle

It’s been quite a journey, not least of all because Ollie can sometimes become anxious and difficult to handle. But, today, thanks to the dedication and kindness of the staff at The Cats’ Cradle, Ollie is making remarkable progress. Mostly kept on a liquid formula for the first six weeks, Ollie is now being syringe fed a healthy raw diet of meat, bone, and organ, all ground up especially for him to enjoy. He’s eating well, gaining weight, enjoying affection, and showing signs of being happy and comfortable. His recovery is a testament to the power of both compassion and medical care—and a simple decision to give him a chance.

Join Us in Supporting Ollie’s Sanctuary Care

Like Gino and Angel, Ollie now needs our continued support. We are launching a dedicated fundraiser to cover the value of his care at The Cats’ Cradle for the rest of his life. This effort will ensure that Ollie receives the lifelong care and love he deserves. ACT for Animals co-founder Judy has given us an incredibly generous offer: if we can cover Ollie’s care expenses for the next three years, they will care for him for the rest of life at no extra cost. It’s a huge help to them, to us, and to Ollie, as they get a nice boost to their funds, we ensure Ollie’s quality lifelong care, and Ollie is guaranteed a lovely forever home.

Please note: we will still work to get Ollie rehomed too!
