You may be a suffering Taiwan stray's only hope

Round-the-clock Animal Rescue

ACT is the only registered charity performing animal rescue in northern Taiwan around the clock—and often in very difficult situations. As a result, we save the lives of animals who had almost no hope and give them the best life we can. Because the bulk of our expenses are in Taiwan, we are able to make funds go a lot further and help more animals in distress, meaning ACT is a great animal charity to donate to if you want your donation to make as much a difference as possible.

When a stray dog is hit by a car, an injured monkey is trapped in a tree, or a puppy is stuck in a drain, ACT goes to the rescue. If a kitten is heard crying from inside a wall down a filthy back alley, or a malnourished amputee like Sandy here needs emergency treatment, ACT won’t give up until they are rescued and receiving the best veterinary care available, no matter what situation or hour of day or night—nor how remote the location. It took 20 hours of driving, climbing, and hiking to get Sandy to safety.

Transforming Animals' Lives

The majority of the dogs that ACT rescues are maimed by poachers’ illegal leg-hold traps and wire snares. After they recover from surgery, our rehoming team endeavours to find loving homes for all the adoptable dogs and cats. However, not all rescued strays are adoptable, so ACT also works with local organisations to provide lifelong, quality sanctuary care when needed. Always, we consider each dog, cat, or wild animal as an important individual, which means we do the very best we can for each and every one who passes through our care.

ACT rescuer Sean carrying Sandy out of the remote village

Sandy was spotted by a kind hiker at a guesthouse in a remote mountain village in East-Central Taiwan. He was curled up inside an unused oven, with both feet having been cut off by hunters’ leg-hold traps meant for wild boar or deer. Sandy was clearly suffering and in desperate need of kindness. We couldn’t leave him there, so we embarked on a rescue mission that involved eight hours of driving, four hours of climbing, and eight hours of hiking to save him. And we could only do that because people like you give to see rescues like this happen.

Please help keep these rescues happening in 2023.

What Your Kindness Can Do For Injured Strays Like Sandy

Naturally, when you give to any charity, you want to see what difference your donation will make. And there are so many good things your kindness can make happen for the animals that ACT rescues. For instance:

£5 vaccinates a recently rescued dog or cat against ten life-threatening diseases—that’s just US$6 / CA$8 / €6 / AU$9 / NT$200

£10 feeds a rescued dog or cat super-healthy raw food for a month—that’s just US$12 / CA$16 / €12 / AU$17 / NT$400

£25 pays for two weeks of life-saving oral medicine for a sick animal—that’s just US$31 / CA$39 / €29 / AU$43 / NT$900

£50 covers half a day’s costs for our team to rescue a stray or wild animal in distress—that’s just US$62 / CA$79 / €58 / AU$89 / NT$1,800

£75 sponsors the basic monthly care for a dog or cat at one of our affiliate sanctuaries—that’s just US$94 / CA$118 / €87 / AU$130 / NT$2,750

£100 ensures a sick or injured animal gets vital blood tests and x-rays—that’s just US$125 / CA$157 / €116 / AU$173 / NT$3,700

£250 to £1,000 means an injured dog or cat can undergo life-saving surgery—that’s just US$312 – $624 / CA$393 – $786  / €291 – €582 / AU$433 – $866 / NT$9,200 – $18,400

Finally enjoying all the creature comforts of a loving home

Yes!  Suffering animals like Sandy must get the urgent treatment they need, and I want to donate to help make this happen.
