The Rescue of Er Bao

On 3rd May 2023, ACT came to the aid of a stray dog named Er Bao, who was suffering from a deep facial wound and loss of appetite. One of our kind fosters knew Er Bao quite well, as he lived on the same street as the friendly stray and his brother. A local dog owner fed the pair, but her dogs were quite aggressive, leading us to believe that one of her pack caused the injury to Er Bao’s face. However, the lady insisted it was Er Bao’s own brother who bit him.

Er Bao’s Medical Treatment

Regardless of the cause, Er Bao’s wound was deep and infected, and it looked very painful. The friendly dog needed urgent medical attention, so we brought him to Dr. Huang at A-New Veterinary Hospital, who examined him and determined the necessary treatment. Dr. Huang planned to castrate him that evening to help prevent fights in the future, and she would clean and suture his wound at the same time.

A Happy Update on Er Bao’s Recovery

We are delighted to report that Er Bao underwent surgery on his face and now looks perfect! He also received a thorough health exam, including blood tests. Dr. Huang and the staff at the vet hospital love the affectionate stray so much that they are letting him stay a few more weeks for free to see if they can find someone to adopt him. A few people have shown interest, but no one has committed to taking him home yet. Er Bao will return to his brother on the street in a week or so if a suitable home can’t be found. There are pro and cons to going back to live with his brother and also to be adopted. Whatever happens, we’ll make sure Er Bao never needs to wait for emergency veterinary help again.
